Nancy (Holford) Marchbanks

Nancy Holford, the third child and eldest daughter of John and Sarah Holford, was born in 1814.

Nancy married William Martin Marchbanks. He was born about 1803 in Overton County, the son of William Columbus Marchbanks II and Jane "Jennie" (Young) Marchbanks.

Nancy and William had the following children:

1. Sarah Ann, born in 1830. She married Alvin Collum. Her children were Luella, Laura, Emanie, and Tillman.
2. Cynthia Ann, born about 1835. She married Robert Martin.
3. John, born about 1836.
4. Laura, born about 1838. She married J. F. McDonald.
5. Martha, born in 1840.
6. Winnie, born about 1843.
7. Adaville, born about 1845.
8. William J., born about 1846 and died 29 June 1882, buried in Adkins Cemetery, Putnam County.
9. Winfield, born about 1849.

In 1840, they owned eight slaves.

In 1850, William was a farmer with real estate valued at $3000. They had 13 slaves, including males of 25, 26, 16, 9, 7, 4, and 3 and females of 35, 19, 17, 11, 2, and 1.

Nancy died 23 February 1851.
